We finally bit the bullet and transitioned Timmy into his toddler bed. Mikayla will be needing the crib next month and we want him to be very happy with his new bed first. He's had both the new bed and his crib in his room for a few months now and had plenty of time to get used to it. The first few nights were tough for him because he didn't understand why he couldn't sleep in his crib. He didn't scream and carry on like I thought he might, he just kept getting up and banging on his door to get out. It doesn't help that it is light outside until well after nine. So it took over an hour before he was tired enough to crash.
He soon figured out how to open his door and then chaos ensued - tried the Supernanny approach where you say good night and then return him to his bed the first time and then say nothing everytime after that. After over 200 times of escorting him back to bed I put hand lotion on the doorknob so he couldn't open it and just let him holler for awhile.
The last two nights have been wonderful - we do our bedtime routine and put him in and that's it for the evening. He still will wake up once or twice at night and cry for someone when he can't find his special toys (currently Lightning and Sally from Cars) or if he needs a drink.
Haircut at Monkee Doo's, no the blue is not permanentMikayla is a sweetie pie and is sleeping well. She now can go almost 4-5 hours of straight sleep most nights before needing a snack. We are trying to have her sleep in her bassinet most of the time but somehow she ends up in with us most nights at some point. She likes sleeping on the memory foam as much as we do! She smiles and flirts with anything that moves and no one can believe how long and thick her hair is for a newborn. We put it in mini pigtails for the first time last Friday and had lots of fun.
Miss Happy PantsYou might be wondering why it has been taking me so long to update the blog. Sadly, somehow the camera on my phone will no longer take clear pictures. I think it has something to do with a certain toddler's obsession with playing with it. It was so convienient to get cute pictures with my phone because I always had it nearby and I knew that the batteries were still good. Now I have to rely on the pictures that Joe takes with his phone and what we take with the digital camera (whose batteries are highly unreliable). Grrr. I don't think a new phone is in the cards for a few months at least.

Cute, cute photos! I remember the new toddler bed days. I put a child proof lock on the inside so they couldn't come out. Worked great! Lotion, another handy option. Necessity the mother of invention. LOL!

Yeah - we'll be swinging by around the 4th of July and again around the 16th of August for my 10 year reunion.
